The Korea Research Institute for Local Administration (President: Yook Dong-il), in collaboration with the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), Japan, held the 17th Korea-Japan Joint Seminar on August 11 at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the theme “Strengthening Resilience and Revitalizing Regions to Address Local Challenges.”

The seminar provided an opportunity to share response strategies and policy directions for common challenges facing local governments in Korea and Japan, including the climate crisis, complex disasters, population decline, and regional depopulation.

Building on this seminar, KRILA plans to further strengthen its cooperation with CLAIR and expand joint policy research and international cooperation on shared policy priorities, including AI-based disaster and safety management, responses to population decline, and regional revitalization.
