This study is focused on the retirement management system of public servantsin Korean local governments. As the average life age has been increased and theKorean society is becoming an aging society, the retirement management of localpublic servants has become an major issue in public personnel management in Korea.This study analyzes the practices of the retirement management for public servantsin foreign governments and the current practices of retirement management system ofKorean public servants. And this study suggests the effective retirement managementfor public servants in Korean local governments.
