The Analysis of Political Attitudes among Wonju Residents toward the Age of Autonomy's Popular

The purpose of this study is to analyze political attitudes among residents in Wonju City and to provide political suggestions. Especially, this study intends to examine the political orientation and the political culture on the basis of the political efficacy-political trust model. The results of the study showed that the political attitudes among the residents appeared to be rather negative and to show the political orientations of "alienation" and "parochial culture", which may be due to a lack of political efficacy and a lack of the political trust. In this study, it was found that the residents appears to be indifferent in local government and to show low interests in local politics. This can be explained by the residents' doubt of their own power in implementing policies and their distrust toward the local government policies and political-administration system. The political orientation group of "alienation" appears to be fifty years of age, high level educated citizens, farming and the livestock industry, the mistress. particularly, The male citizen of rural community has the lowest trust toward the political efficacy. The women citizen of urban has the lowest political trust. Therefore, this study attempts to present the five alternative suggestions for establishing the desirable local political culture.
