In this study, we examined changes in housing precariousness among young people (aged 19–39 years) before and after the COVID-19 pandemic using data from the Korea Housing Survey. The results show, first, young people, as a whole, experienced no significant increase in housing precariousness post-pandemic; second, the findings deviated from those of the overall population considering sociodemographic characteristics of young people. For instance, a more noticeable increase in housing precariousness was observed in households with multiple occupants post-pandemic. Third, the analysis of the intricate aspects of housing instability pre- and post-pandemic indicated a minor rise in the number of young people experiencing multidimensional housing instability. These results suggest the need to maintain the overall direction of housing policies for young people while expanding targeted programs tailored to specific policy groups.
