Most of local autonomous entities expect that their local festivals bring positive effects, but it is not easy to meet their expectations. Therefore, this research analyzes the actual local festivals by focusing on what are the key criteria of their success. Throughout precedent study, we developed the six criteria; the theme, participation of residents, the host’s networking capabilities, evaluation tools, expertness, and infrastructures that also consists of six analytical variables. We analyzed and compared the differences of the key criteria among two groups, successful and unsuccessful. The results of analysis showed that the successful local festivals had higher satisfaction level on the six criteria than unsuccessful one had. Therefore, to become more successful local festivals, the host of the festival should consider the six criteria from the beginning of planning
