Koreaʼs 1970s Saemaul Undong led the national development, and since beingrecognized by UNSECOʼs Memory of the World Register requests for itsdissemination from around the world have risen sharply. While there could beseveral factors behind this reason, the dedication and service of Saemaulleaders played an important role.Accordingly, this study focuses on Saemaul leadersʼ self-motivated initiative andsacrifice as well as analyzing the relationship of their displays of leadership withpartner organizations and communities. And based on theoretical discussions andanalysis proposes some implications for redefining leaders as those who facilitatedprojects by taking pride in their work and extending partnerships betweenthemselves, Saemaul organizations, and community organizations.This concludes with the proposition that it would be meaningful to research Saemaulleaders who at present are building relationships with organizations and communities.
