Whatsoever the situation and the environment changes, the responses alsochange accordingly. The government exists to solve public problems. Recently,community responsibility of the safety project is gradually increasing.Therefore, the local government is expanding its role, taking over more of themanagement of the Safety Community program and attempting to raise fundsfrom central government and businesses to make it sustainable. This studydraws on experiences of safety community program and research aboutadvanced cases of safety communities. The case studies examine the twolocations, setting out the local context for describing the process, results andlessons learnt. This alternatives are necessary and important, and recent yearshave seen an increase in participatory and community-based approaches toissues like policing, small arms control and crime prevention.
