The Korea Local Administration Review

This study analyzes the characteristics of the local government in terms ofrelationships with other industrial sectors and compares the analysis resultswith the central government's ones. The analysis is based on the linkagemeasures of the input-output method which can analyze the several economicripple effects among industrial sectors using production and demand dependencestructures of industries. The 1995, 2000, 2005, 2009 year input-output tablesof Korea are used as data. It turns out that local government has highbackward linkage effects which have increased over time during the dataperiod, meaning that it is a key sector in national economy.
